Engine lacks acceleration or power
1. Fouled or damaged spark plugs.
– Check item ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT FAILS TO START.
2. Lack of fuel to engine.
– Check item ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT FAILS TO START.
3. Engine is overheating.
– Check ENGINE OVERHEATING in SPECIAL PROCEDURES.
– If overheating persists, contact an authorized Bombardier ATV dealer.
4. Air filter/box plugged or dirty.
– Check air filter and clean if necessary.
– Check deposits in air box drain tube.
– Check the position of the air intake tube.
5. CVT dirty or wear.
– Contact an authorized Bombardier ATV dealer.
6. Engine is under a protection mode.
– Check speedometer multi-function display for messages.
– Speedometer CHECK ENGINE indicator lamp is on and multi-function display shows
CHECK ENGINE or LIMP HOME, contact an authorized Bombardier ATV dealer.
Engine backfire
1. Exhaust system leakage.
– Contact an authorized Bombardier ATV dealer.
2. Engine is running too hot.
– See ENGINE LACKS ACCELERATION OR POWER.
3. Ignition timing is incorrect or there is an ignition system failure.
– Contact an authorized Bombardier ATV dealer.
Engine misfire
1. Fouled/damaged/worn spark plug.
– Clean/verify spark plug and heat range. Replace as required.
2. Water in fuel.
– Drain fuel system and refill with fresh fuel.
