5.4 Sizing the Hot Water Cylinder

Domestic hot water services design should be based on an accurate
assessment of the number and types of points of use and anticipated
consumption within the property, making appropriate adjustments for
the intended domestic hot water storage temperature and domestic hot
water cylinder recovery rate.
When sizing the hot water cylinder, please use MCS guidelines in
MIS3005 and also refer to BS EN 806:1-5 AND BS EN 8558.
When Aquarea HP cylinder is connected to both heat pump and solar
thermal systems, then during the winter period the solar contribution will
be negligible and the heat pump will only heat about 65 % of the cylinder
volume.
This should be taken into account when selecting the model.
