COOLING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
NOTE
• To maintain proper engine operating temperatures,
cooling air must pass freely through the cylinder fin
areas. This flow of air carries combustion heat away
from the engine.
• Removal of cooling passage blockages or cleaning of
cylinder fins is considered "Normal Maintenance." Any
resultant failure attributed to lack of maintenance is not
warranted.
Overheating and engine seizure can occur when:
• Air intakes are blocked preventing cooling air from
reaching the cylinder, or
• Dust and grass build up on the outside of the cylinder.
This build up insulates the engine and prevents the heat
from leaving.
ENTRETIEN DU CIRCUIT DE REFROIDISSEMENT
REMARQUE
• Pour maintenir les températures de fonctionnement du
moteur, l'air de refroidssement doit passer librement
sur la surface des ailettes du cylindre. Ce flux d'air
réduit la chaleur de combustion.
• L'entretien normal comporte le dégagement des
passages de refroidissement et le nettoyage des
ailettes du cylindre. Toute panne causée par un
manque d'entretien ne sera pas couverte par la
garantie.
La surchauffe et le grippage du moteur peuvent se
produire dans les circonstances suivantes:
• Blocage de l'admission d'air empêchant l'air de
refroidissement d'atteindre le cylindre ou
• Accumulation de poussières et d'herbe sur l'extérieur du
cylindre. Ceci isole le moteur et empêche la chaleur de
se dégager.

ANMERKUNG
• Zwecks Aufrechterhaltung der richtigen Motor-
betriebstemperaturen muß die Kühlungsluft den
Zylinderrippenbereich ungehindert durchfi\ließen
künnen.
• Durch derartige Ansammlungen wird der Motor isoliert,
so daß keine Hitze entweichen kann. Die Reinigung
der Zylinderrippen bzw. das Freihalten der
Zirkulationswege gehört zur "normalen Pflege und
Instandhaltung." Eine sich aus mangelhafter
Instandhaltung ergebende Störung fällt nicht unter die
Garantieerklärung.
Durch diesen Luftstrom wird die Verbrennungshitze vom
Motor wegtransportiert. Unter folgenden Bedingungen
kann es vorkommen, daß der Motor heißläuft und anfrißt:
• Wenn die Lufteinlaßstellen blockiert sind, so daß die
Kühlungsluft nicht zum Zylinder vordringen kann oder
• Wenn sich außen am Zylinder Staub bzw. Gras
angesammelt hat.

NOTA
• Per una manutenzione adeguata del motore a diverse
tenmperature l'aria di raffreddamento deve passare
liberamente attraverso le alette del cilindro. Questo
flusso d'aria porta via il calore della combustione dal
motore.
• La rimozione di ostacoli sul flusso d'aria o la pulizia
delle alette del cilindro è considerata "Manutenzione
Normale" qualsiasi danneggiamento attribuito alla
mancanza di manutenzione non è garantito.
Il surriscaldamento e il grippaggio del motore si possono
verificare quando:
• Le prese d'aria sono bloccate ed impediscono che l'aria
di raffreddamento arrivi al cilindro, o
• Polvere e grasso si accumulano sulla parte esterna del
cilindro, ciò isola il motore e non fa uscire il calore.

Remove accumulated debris from intake area for
cleaning.
ADMISSION

Pour le nettoyage, enlevez tous les débris accumulés
sur la grille d'entrée.

einlaßgrill
Wenn sich an der Luftzuführung Räumgut
angesammelt hat, ist es zu entfernen.
