4 Maintenance
4.5 Cleaning the motor
protection filter
The motor protection filter (Fig. 28/1) prevents larger
particles from destroying the motor.
Checking: Check the motor protection filter each time

you empty the dust container.
Cleaning: If during checking you see that the filter is
dirty, clean it as described below. However, the filter
should be cleaned at least every 3 – 6 months.
1. Switch the appliance off and observe the instructions
under
Chapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting the
power cable".

2. Remove and empty the dust container,
"Emptying and cleaning the dust container".
3. Release the filter cover (Fig. 29/1) and remove it.

4. Remove the motor protection filter together with the
holder at the tab provided for this purpose below right
(Fig. 30).
5. Hold the motor protection filter together with the holder
over a dustbin. Only then separate both parts from each
other.

6. Rinse the motor protection filter element by hand
thoroughly with clear cold water (Fig. 31).
ATTENTION:
The filter is washable, but it may not be cleaned in
dishwashers or washing.machines Also, please do not
use cleansers for cleaning the filters. Then leave the filter
elements to dry (approx. 24 hours at room temperature).
Only replace them into the appliance when they are

completely dry.
7. If the filter is damaged, replace it ( Chapter 5.3, "Spare
parts").
8. Insert the dry motor protection filter back into its holder.
9. Put the motor protection filter with its holder back into
the filter bracket.
