TROUBLESHOOTING
If the fuel injection system fails to operate.
Check:
1. main fuel injection system and ignition
fuses
2. battery
3. main switch
4. engine stop switch
5. fuel injection system relay
6. fuel pump resistance
7. crankshaft position sensor
8. cylinder identification sensor
9. speed sensor
10. coolant temperature sensor
11. intake air temperature sensor
12. intake air pressure sensor
13. atmospheric pressure sensor
14. AI system solenoid
15. Intake solenoid
16. wiring connections
(the entire fuel system)
NOTE:
S Before troubleshooting, remove the following
part(s):
1. fuel tank
2. air filter case
3. side cowlings
S Troubleshoot with the following special
tool(s).

1. Main, fuel injection system and ignition
fuses
S Check the main, fuel injection system and
ignition fuses for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE FUSES" in chap-
ter 3.
S Are the main, fuel injection system and igni-
tion fuses OK?
YES
FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
NO
Replace the fuse(s).

2. Battery
S Check the condition of the battery.
Refer to "CHECKING AND CHARGING
THE BATTERY" in chapter 3.
Minimum open-circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20_C
S Is the battery OK?
YES

3. Main switch
S Check the main switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
S Is the main switch OK?
YES

4. Engine stop switch
S Check the engine stop switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
S Is the engine stop switch OK?
YES
ELEC
NO
S Clean the battery
terminals.
S Recharge or re-
place the battery.
NO
Replace the main
switch.
NO
Replace the right
handlebar switch.
