Joystick (Hex Shaft)

To disassemble a joystick:
NOTE: The procedure to rebuild a 2-way and a 4-
way joystick are very similar, any differences
will be call out when necessary.
1. Remove the two screws, indicated by the arrows in
Figure 10.25, from the grip assembly using a #2
Phillips screwdriver.
2. Slide the grip assembly off of the metal lever
3. Remove the hairpin clip from the hex shaft coupler.
4. Slide the hex shaft into the remote head until it
clears the joystick assembly.
5. Remove the hex shaft.
6. If equipped, disconnect the Remote Pitch Control
Head by following the procedures described in that
section of this chapter.
NOTE: If the cables are not being replaced, step six
can be skipped.
7. Remove the ground wire from the joystick assembly
(if equipped) using 1/2" wrench.
8. Remove the six screws that secure the joystick to
the handle panel using a 3/8" wrench. See Figure
10.27.
NOTE: Folding the handle bars down will allow eas-
ier access to the joystick assembly.
9. Lift the joystick assembly out of the handle panel.
