Adjusting the Lever Arm

Refer to Figure 3-5 and Figure 3-7:
The lever arm should be adjusted only after following
instructions for "Park Brake Adjustment" on page 32. If
you run out of L-bolt threads while making adjustments to
it in step 12 on page 24, then the park brake lever arm
(#7) will need the following adjustments:
1. With both control levers in park, move the control
lever that is located on the same side as the park
brake being adjusted to neutral.
2. Remove cotter pin (#3) and flat washer (#4) from
L-bolt #5. Remove L-bolt from actuator lever (#1).
3. Loosen jam nut (#6) and turn L-bolt (#5) until half the
threads are out of the swivel mount and half are in
the swivel mount.
4. Loosen nuts (#8 & #9) on lever arm (#7).
5. With firm pressure, press in at the bottom of park
brake lever mount (#11) and hold in this position.
6. While holding the lever mount (#11) with firm
pressure, press in at bottom of lever arm (#7) to align
the L-bolt (#5) just above its mounting hole as shown
in Figure 3-7.
7. Keeping the relationship between lever arm (#7) and
lever mount (#11), retighten nuts (#8 & #9) to the
proper torque.
8. Reinsert L-bolt (#5) in actuator lever (#1) mounting
hole and temporarily replace cotter pin (#3). Do not
bend cotter pin at this time.
9. Place control lever in park.
10. Continue by following instructions beginning with
step 8 under "Park Brake Adjustment" on page 32.
