ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION

This answering system (ITAD) can be accessed using on screen menus at
the base or handset, using the buttons on the base, or from a remote touch
tone phone. Instructions for those functions available through base
buttons appear in ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION USING BASE
BUTTONS. Instructions for access from another telephone are in
ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION AT TOUCH TONE PHONE.

Turn Answering System On/Off

Press O on the base and follow the screen prompts to turn the ITAD
on or off for each line.
If you turn the ITAD off for a line, you can access that line remotely but
the ITAD will not answer incoming calls with an announcement.

About Announcements

You can record two different announcements for each line—
one for normal answering and one for when you've set the system
to play the announcement only.
Use Answer + Record when you want the system to record callers'
messages. Use Answer Only when you want to give information to
callers without accepting messages.
If you choose not to record an announcement, the system answers
with a pre-recorded announcement.
The normal answering pre-recorded announcement says: "Hello.
Please leave a message after the tone. " The Answer Only pre-recorded
announcement says: "We're sorry, messages to this number cannot
be accepted. "
By setting the answer mode to Answer + Record or Answer Only, you
decide which announcement your callers will hear when the system
answers a call (the system comes set for normal answering). See
"Answer Mode" on page 11 to change your announcement selection
for each line.
