Selecting gear stage
Note: Only activate the slide switch (1st/2nd gear)
(3) when the motor is running.
1st gear (low speed,
particularly high torque)
2nd gear (high speed)

Setting torque control,
drilling
Turn selector barrel (torque, drilling) (2).
1...5 = Torque setting (with torque control) -
intermediate positions are also possible.
= Drilling stage setting (max. torque,
without torque control)
To avoid motor overloading, do not lock
the spindle.

Switching power tool on/off, setting
speed
To start the machine, press the trigger switch (5).
The speed can be changed at the trigger switch by
pressing.
9 Use of battery charger
The maximum number of charge cycles can only
reached if an exhaustive discharge of the battery
pack is avoided. If performance diminishes,
recharge the battery pack.
9.1
Charging battery pack
Insert battery pack (7) up to the stop in the
charging compartment (8).
The operating display (10) flashes and the battery
is charged.
When the battery pack is fully charged, the oper-
ating display (10) lights up continuously.
The battery pack can remain in the battery charger
and is therefore always ready for use.
10 Fault when charging
10.1 Warning display (9) lights up continu-
ously
• Battery pack is not charged. Temperature too
high/too low. When the temperature of the
battery pack is between 0 °C and 50 °C, the
charging process begins automatically.
10.2 Warning display (9) flashes
• Battery pack is defective. Remove the battery
pack immediately from the charger.
• Short circuit between the charging contacts.
Check the contacts for foreign bodies.

11 Tips and Tricks

For special tasks: thanks to the automatic spindle
stop, when the machine is switched off it can also
be used as a screwdriver.
When working with long screw bits or bit holders,
we recommend the use of the bit clamping bush
6.31281 (see Accessories chapter).
Drilling
Preferably in 2nd gear (high speed).
Screws
Preferably in 1st gear (low speed) and with torque
control.
Screws in areas that are hard to access
The angle screwdriver attachment (see Accesso-
ries chapter) makes work at difficult-to-access
areas particularly easy.
Thread tapping
Lubricate thread drills.
Select 1st gear (low speed).
Adjust torque control.
12 Accessories
Use only genuine Metabo accessories.
If you need any accessories, check with your
dealer.
For dealers to select the correct accessory, they
need to know the exact model designation of your
power tool.
See page 4.
A Quick-clamping chuck.
Fitting: unscrew protective cap (1). (To
remove a tight protective cap, insert a metal
pin (diameter 4 mm) in the protective cap bore
to assist removal). Screw the quick-clamping
chuck onto the spindle thread. The quick-
clamping chuck can be tightened (and
released again) with an open-jawed spanner,
a/f 17.
