Front Axle Removal

Refer to Figure 6-7:
1. Chock rear drive wheels to secure mower and
prevent movement while repairs are made.
2. Raise and secure the front of the mower. The front
caster wheel assemblies may be removed to reduce
the weight of the front axle during removal.
3. Unlock the front axle pivot and allow the axle to float
freely, this will remove tension from the pivot lock for
removal.
Refer to Figure 6-8:
4. Remove the floor panel to access the floor panel
attachment bracket over the front end pivot mount.
See "Floor Panel Removal" on page 15.
5. Loosen and remove the front axle pivot bolt from the
floor panel attachment bracket.
6. Loosen and remove the floor panel retaining bolts on
the back side of the floor panel attachment bracket
and remove the attachment bracket.
Refer to Figure 6-9:
7. Slide the front pivot axle off the front end pivot mount.
8. Loosen and remove the deck strut attachment bolts
and allow the struts to rest on the deck.
9. Loosen and remove the round head carriage bolts
and nuts from the top of the front end pivot mount.
10. Loosen and remove the three front end pivot mount
bolts one the front end pivot mount and remove the
front end pivot mount from the unit frame.
