BACK LAPPING THE CUTTING CYLINDER ______________________________
The cutting edges of the spiral cutters are kept by the
'back lapping' method.
1.
Remove the chain case cover.
2.
Check the cutting cylinder is set to the bottom
blade.
3.
Remove the chain 'B' and disengage the cylinder
clutch.
4.
Apply some carborundum grinding paste* on the
spiral cutters.

Available from your Ransomes Jacobsen supplier.
5.
Rotate the cutting cylinder in the reverse of the cutting stroke. Use a socket spanner and brace on the
screw (E).
NOTE: During the 'back lapping' operation, check the setting of the cutting cylinder to the bottom blade. If
necessary make an adjustment.
When the cutting blades are sharp, they will cut the paper evenly along the length of the bottom blade
.

HANDLE ADJUSTMENT ______________________________________________

The handle is adjustable for height and reach, to suit the operator.

Adjustment:

Angle.
1.
Loosen the clamp bolts (4) to adjust the angle on the
handle bars Tighten the bolts.
Height.
2.
Remove the bolt (1) from the handle bars, then
replace in correct hole (A) Tighten the fasteners.

PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT_______________________________________

1.
Put the Parking brake lever in the OFF position
adjust the locknuts (B).Make sure that the brake
clamp is free from the brake drum.
2.
Engage the Parking Brake and set the brake band
to resist a force of 25Nm on nut (c). Tighten the
locknuts (b). Check the Brake operation. The
landroll must not rotate with this torque
applied.NOTES
IMPORTANT
Remove All Grinding Paste Before Operation
