Automatic Update

Your phone will receive a notification that there is an updated version of software
available to be downloaded. You can press
available or it can happen automatically. Once the download is complete you may,
depending on the nature of the update, have three options available:
• Accept the update
• Defer the update
• Reject the update
Note: You have the option to cancel the download operation. If you cancel the download, the following
message is displayed: "Download Cancelled. Software download will automatically re-start later."
You can also reinitiate the download at your convenience by following the steps below for Check New.

If you accept the update by pressing
the device is powered off before the update can be performed, the update will
take place as soon as the device is powered on.
•
Before accepting the update a brief description of the software update and the
approximate time required to complete the update will be displayed. Additional
information may be available by pressing the info key.
•
In the case of critical updates, you can either accept the update by pressing
or the device will countdown the time until the update will occur. High severity
updates can happen automatically or may be deferred for up to 24 hours until a
more convenient time. For lower severity updates you must press
update to begin. Low severity updates can be deferred or rejected.
•
During the update a progress bar is displayed to indicate "% complete".
•
Upon completion and after the device resets, you will be notified that the update
was successful or has failed.

Note: During the update you cannot make or receive phone calls, including 911 calls, or text messages.

If you choose to defer the update, your phone displays a screen allowing the user
to set the time of the update along with a message instructing the user to ensure
the device is on and powered at the designated time.
•
Use the navigation key to enter in the time on the display to initiate the update.
•
At the designated time, the device performs the update as if you had chosen
Accept.
