Troubleshooting
Problem
Copies are too light.

Toner fusing is poor.
A moire pattern appears on
copies.
Image density is uneven.
Images are blurred when us-
ing translucent paper.
Wrinkles appear when using
translucent paper.

Causes
Image density is too light.
Damp or rough grain paper is
used.
The paper thickness is not
properly set.
The copy paper is too thick.
Your original has a dot pat-
tern image or many lines.
The original has areas of solid
colour, or Positive/Negative
is selected when copying mul-
tiple sheets.
Halftone originals can cause
this problem.
Translucent paper is being
used when copying multiple
sheets.
An improper paper thickness
is selected.
The paper type has recently
been changed from plain pa-
per to translucent paper.
Solutions
Adjust the image density set-
ting. See p.28 "Adjusting
Copy Image Density".
For good copy quality, use
recommended paper.
Note
❒ If you use coated paper
(such as thermal fax paper,
art paper, carbon paper),
damp paper, or rough
grain paper, copy image
might be too light.
Set the paper thickness again.

tings Guide.
Change the orientation of the
original. This may prevent the
moire pattern.
Copy using "Photo" mode.
When using Repeat Copy
with originals that have areas
of solid colour, set the number
of originals as follows:
A0 – A2 (E – C): 1 sheet, A3 (B)
or smaller: 3 sheets
Try using "Text/Photo" or
"Photo".
Select a proper paper thick-
ness for the copy paper. See
"Paper Thickness: Paper
Tray" and "Paper Thickness:
Paper Bypass", General Set-
tings Guide.
