FuelRequirements
Operatingthe engine with EISor Egsfuel, an oil/gasoline mixture, dirty
gasoline,or gasoline over 30 days old without fuel stabilizing additive
mayresult in damageto your engine'scarburetor. Subsequent d amage
would not be covered under the manufacturer'swarranty.
Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane.Gasoline w ith up to 10%ethanol(EIO)
or 15%MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoil/gasoline
mixtureor dirty gasoline. A voidgettingdirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO
NOT use E15 or E85 gasoline.
Gasolineisextremely flammable and isexplosiveunder certain conditions.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Donot smokeor
allowflamesor sparks in the area wherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfillthe fuel tank.After refueling, m akesurethe tank capisclosed
properly andsecurely.
Becareful n ot to spillfuel whenrefueling.Spilled fuel or fuelvapormay
ignite.Ifanyfuel isspilled,makesuretheareaisdry before startingthe
engine.
Adding Fuel
An adult shouldfuel this engine.NEVER allowchildren to refuel the engine.
Gasoline(fuel)vaporsare highly flammable and canexplode.Fuelvapors
can spreadandbe ignited bya sparkor flame manyfeet awayfrom engine.
Toprevent injury or death from fuel fires, follow theseinstructions:
DONOT useleaded fuel.
Fuel m ustbefreshandclean.NEVER u sefuel left overfrom lastseason or
storedfor longperiods.
NEVER m ixoil with fuel.
DONOT usefuelcontainingMethanol(WoodAlcohol)
NOTE: Beforerefueling, a llowengineto cooltwo minutes.

Clean aroundfuel fill before removing capto fuel.
2.
Filltank until fuel reaches 1 /2 inchbelowthe bottomof thefiller neck to
allowspace forfuel expansion. B ecareful n ot to overfill.
3.
Replace t he gasoline capandtighten securely. Wipeup spilledfuelbefore
startingengine.If fuelis spilledDO NOT startengine.Movemachine away
fromareaofspillage.Avoid creatinganysource of ignitionuntilfuel vapors
aregone.

in enclosed,poorly ventilated areas.Engineexhaustcontains carbon
monoxide,an odorlessanddeadly gas.Keephands,feet, hair andloose
clothing awayfrom any moving partson engine and lawn mower.
TOSTART E NGINE
Standing behindthe mower,pullthe bladecontrolhandleback againstthe
drivecontrol.

Whileholdingthe bladeanddrivecontrolstogetherfirmly,graspthe recoil
starterhandleandpull ropeout with arapid,continuous, full armstroke.
See Figure 14.Keeping afirm griponthe starterhandle,letthe roperewind
slowly.Repeat u ntilenginecranks. L etthe roperewindeachtime slowly.
Keepafirm gripon the starter cordhandleto prevent rapidretraction of
starter cord(kickback).Rapidretractioncan pull handandarm toward
enginefaster than you canlet go,and resultin brokenbones,fractures,
bruisesor sprains.
TOSTOP ENGINE
1.
Release b ladecontrolto stopthe engineandblade.
Wait for the bladeto stop completelybeforeperforming anyworkon the
mower or to remove the grasscatcher.
