Alwayslookdown and behind beforeandwhile backingup to avoid a back-
overaccident.
1.
Depress t he brakepedal t o release the parkingbrakeandthen letthe pedal
up.
2.
Movethe throttle leverintothe FAST ( rabbit)position.
3.
Place the shift leverineitherthe FORWARD or REVERSE
position.
IMPORTANT; DoNOT usethe shift levertochange the directionof travelwhenthe
tractorisinmotion.Alwaysusethe brakepedalto bringthe tractorto acomplete
stopbeforeshifting.

Gradually b eginto applypressure to the drivepedal. T hefurther downthe
pedalispushed, t he fasterthetractorwill travelin the desired direction
based onthe positionof theshift lever.
5.
Thelawntractoris broughtto astopbyreleasing the drivepedalandthen
depressing t he brakepedal.
Beforeleavingthe operator'sposition for any reason, d isengagethe blades,
placethe shift leverin neutral, engagethe parkingbrake,shut engineoff
andremovethe key.
When stopping the tractor for any reasonwhile on a grasssurface,
always:

Reverse Caution Mode
TheREVERSE
CAUTION MODE positionofthe keyswitchmoduleallowsthe tractorto
maneuver i nreverse with the blades(PTO) engaged.
NOTE: Mowinginreverse is not recommended.
Useextreme caution whileoperating the tractor in the REVERSE CAUTION
MODE. Alwayslook down and behind beforeandwhile backing.Donot
operatethe tractor when children or othersare around. Stopthe tractor
immediately if someoneentersthe area.
Touse the REVERSE CAUTION MODE:
NOTE: The operatorMUST beseatedinthetractorseat.

Starttheengineaspreviously instructed on the previous page.

Turnthe keyfrom the NORMAL M OWING ( Green) p ositionto the REVERSE
CAUTION MODE (Yellow) p ositionofthe keyswitchmodule.SeeFigure 9.

Press t he REVERSE
PUSH BUTTON (Orange, Triangular B utton)at the top,
right corner ofthe keyswitchmodule. T he redindicatorlightat the top,left
corner of the keyswitchmodulewill beONwhileactivated. S eeFigure 9.

Theoperator leaves the seat.
DrivingOn Slopes
Refer t o the SLOPE G AUGE in the Safety Instructions sectionof the manual t o help
determineslopes whereyoumayoperate thistractorsafely.
Donot mow on inclineswith aslope in excess of 15degrees(a riseof
approximately 2-112 feet every10feet). Thetractor could overturn and
causeseriousinjury.
Mow upanddownslopes, N EVER a cross.
Exercise e xtreme cautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks, o r otherhiddenobjects.Uneven terrain
couldoverturnthe machine. T allgrasscanhideobstacles.
Avoidturnswhendrivingonaslope.Ifa turn mustbemade,turndown the
slope.Turningupaslopegreatlyincreases t hechance of a rollover.
Avoidstoppingwhendrivingupa slope.If it isnecessary t o stopwhile
drivingupa slope, s tart upsmoothlyandcarefully to reduce the possibility
of flippingthe tractoroverbackward.
