Charging

Precautions
• Use the BC-1WD/1WDCE in surroundings with
temperatures at 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
Charging at low temperatures is difficult, so it is
recommended that the battery packs be charged at
between 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F).
• Avoid using or storing the BC-1WD/1WDCE in
places susceptible to dust or corrosive gases.
• Avoid using or storing the BC-1WD/1WDCE in
places subject to direct sunlight.
• Do not cover the ventilation holes.
Battery Pack Insertion
Insert the NP-1/1A/1B battery packs to be charged as
shown below.

Charging four battery packs
Charging
Turn the POWER switch ON. First the battery packs
are discharged and then charged in order from 1 to 4.
The BC-1WD/1WDCE automatically conducts
refreshing (discharge) before charging to prevent
against battery pack memory effects. When you have
no time to refresh the battery packs, press the
REFRESH OFF button and it will light.
Consequently, charging will start without refresh
discharging first.
Indications of the charge lamps

Auto refresh in progress

(fully discharging the battery)
Lit in red

Near end of booster charge

End of booster charge or trickle charge

One of the following conditions exists:
Lit alternately in
red and green
• The battery voltage has not risen to
the booster charge voltage within a
specified period after commencement
of charging.
• The end of charging in the – V
charge control system has not been
detected within a specified period.
• Discharging when refreshing did not
end within a specified period.
In such cases, try recharging the
battery pack two or three times. If the
same condition persists, the battery
pack may be defective and should be
replaced.
