1.
Save and close any open files, exit any open application programs, and shut down
the computer.
2.
Turn off any peripherals, and disconnect them from their electrical outlets.
3.
If the computer is docked, undock it. For instructions, see your Advanced Port
Replicator User's Guide.
4.
Disconnect the AC adapter and any attached peripherals, including telephone or
telecommunication lines, from the computer.
5.
Remove the battery from the battery bay or the media bay.
6.
Close the display, turn the computer upside down, and remove the memory
module cover.
a.
Locate the small rectangular indentation at one end of the memory module
cover.
b.
Place the tip of your finger under the cover at the indentation, and firmly lift it
up.
c.
When the cover pops up, lift it up to remove it and expose the memory
modules underneath it.
NOTICE: Ground yourself by touching the unpainted metal surface of a
connector on the back of the computer. While you work, periodically touch
the connector to dissipate any static electricity that might harm internal
components.
7 .
If you are replacing a memory module, remove the old one.
Carefully spread apart the inner tabs of the memory module socket just far
enough for the memory module to disengage from the socket (it should pop up
slightly). Then lift the memory module away from the socket (see Figure 2-10).
