TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
No weld current
(plug fuse blowing).
No weld current
Feed motor not working.
Roller rotates but no wire
feed or uneven wire feed.
Unstable arc.
Weld current interrupted.
Porous weld.
Irregular weld cap.
Narrow raised weld cap.
Weld cap too wide
Poor penetration.
Excessive penetration.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Blown rectifier.
Poor earth clamp connection.
Break in earth lead.
Break in torch lead.
Defective motor or defective gears.
Incorrect roller adjustment.
Deformed welding wire.
Dirt in torch liner.
Shroud or contact tip faulty.
Incorrect settings.
Impurities in the weld area.
Faulty shroud.
Thermal trip has operated.
Rusty or dirty joints.
Problem with the gas flow.
Torch at wrong angle or too far
from the workpiece.
Torch incorrectly held.
Wire weaving in weld pool.
Weld speed too fast / weld current
too low.
Weld speed too slow / weld current

REMEDY
Replace rectifier.
Check and clean up connections.
Replace earth lead.
Replace torch or lead.
Replace.
Adjust pressure arm.
Check roller tension.
Clean or replace.

Clean the weld area prior to
welding.

Allow the welder to cool down.
Clean the weld area prior to

Check the regulator, and gas
hoses.
Check the contact tip. Use a
windbreak when welding outside.
