TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES

PROBLEM
No Illumination
(All Models)
(Non illuminated models)
(115 Volt Electric Models)
(Rechargeable LED Models)
Image does not remain in focus
Image does not focus
Poor resolution
(image not sharp)
Spots in field of view.
REASON FOR PROBLEM
Disc diaphragm has not "clicked" into
proper position and is blocking light
source beneath stage
Mirror not properly positioned to
direct light through microscope
Outlet inoperative
AC power cord not connected
Lamp burned out
Batteries fully discharged
Batteries will not hold a charge
On/Off rheostat control not turned far
enough
LED bulb burned out
Eyepiece tube drops under its own
weight.
Cover slip on specimen slide too
thick.
Slide upside down.
Objective lenses dirty.
Eyepiece lens dirty.
Too much light.
Eyepiece lens dirty.
Specimen slide dirty.

SOLUTION
Turn disc diaphragm until it "clicks" into
position
Reposition mirror
Have qualified service technician repair
outlet
Plug into outlet
Replace lamp
Recharge batteries
Replace batteries
Turn rheostat to On position and rotate to
increase light intensity
Have qualified technical service company
change bulb
Adjust tension of coarse focus knob (see
maintenance)
Use 0.17mm thick cover slip.
(No. 1 cover slip)
Place slide on stage with cover slip facing
up.
Clean objective lenses.
Clean eyepiece lenses.
Adjust disc diaphragm
Clean eyepiece lenses.
Clean slide.
