In the Field Values box, all the possible values are displayed, with a status square next to
each value. For "simple" edit rules the color of the square indicates how to treat the field
when it has that value. To set a "simple" edit rule, double-click on the value to change the
square color to Red, Yellow, or Green as you wish. Any of the values that are labeled "Rsvd
( )" can be ignored, since they should never occur in a metadata stream (and are by default
set to Red = error). After making a change, click "Apply" to save it to the current Edit
Rules.
Some fields need more complex editing; a field may be in error when it has a certain value
depending on the value that another field has. These dependencies can happen in relation
to Program Config (for all fields) and Audio Coding Mode (for Dolby Digital fields only).
To set a "dependent" edit rule, select the desired field value by single-clicking it in the Field
Values box. That value will now appear under Dependencies "When field value is:". Next
double-click the value for the dependent field (in the Program Config box), changing the
square color to Red, Yellow, or Green. After a change is made, click "Apply" to save it to
the current Edit Rules.
A "dependent" rule states that "when the field value is X and the Program Config value is
Y, flag the metadata as Z", where X is the field value in the "When field value is:" box, Y
is the value double-clicked in the Program Config Box, and Z is the color action (Red, Yel-
low, Green). When a "dependent" rule triggers a warning or error, the verbiage "pcf" (Pro-
gram Config dependency) or "acm" (Audio Coding Mode dependency) will be appended
