Linear Acoustic LA-5180 Metadata Frame Sync/Generator Operation Manual
5180. RS-485 is the 9-pin serial metadata input, and VANC is the metadata extracted
from an applied HD-SDI signal.
x Metadata To (RS-485, VANC, RS-485 & VANC) - Selects how metadata is out-
put from the LA-5180 (serial, VANC, or both).
x Preset Type (Generate/Modify) - In generate mode, all output metadata is inter-
nally generated. In Modify mode, all metadata parameters are set to "Pass" through ex-
ternally applied values (unless the external metadata fails, then internal metadata
generation takes over). In Modify mode, each externally applied metadata value can be
over-written as needed. NOTE: Depending on the mode selected, either a "G" or an
"M" is appended after the "x" from above. For example, if editing Preset 1 and Gen-
erate mode is chose, "1G" will appear in front of the following values:
PGM Config (5.1, 5.1+2, 4x2, etc...) - Sets the "Dolby E" program configuration to
any desired value. Note that this setting affects the number of programs that will be
created within a given metadata stream. For example, 5.1+2 is two programs, so there
will be two dialnorm values to adjust, two Line Mode settings to adjust, etc...
Use XBSI (Enable/Disable) - Determines whether optional extended bitstream val-
ues are included in the metadata stream. These values include settings such as A/D
Converter Type and Preferred Downmix modes. Note that many but not all consumer
decoders respond to these values.
Select Program (1-y) - To adjust the metadata of the programs determined by the
PGM Config setting, select it using this menu. "y" determines which program is being
adjusted and is appended to the preset/generate tag. For example, if Preset 1 is in Gen-
erate mode and Program 2 is being adjusted, the prefix on the display will show: 1G2.
From here, each individual metadata parameter can be adjusted.
