Chapter 5: AMAS Software

The Audio Metadata Analysis System (AMAS) option for the LA-5180 provides a compre-
hensive tool for monitoring, analyzing, and logging audio metadata signals. Further, critical
information about the status and position of Dolby E encoded audio is provided to aid in
diagnosing issues related to incorrectly encoded or recorded bitstreams.
The AMAS system requires a Windows (2000 or XP)-compatible application be installed
on one or more machines connected to the LA-5180 unit via Ethernet. Installation, con-
figuration, and operation of AMAS is described below.
5.1

Installation

Requirements:
A PC or Apple Macbook with Parallels (or Linux with Wine) running Windows 2000
or XP with the latest service packs installed (SP2 minimum)
An ETHERNET connection on the same LAN as the LA-5180 hardware
Software Installation:
Insert the CD-ROM included in the packing kit into the CD_ROM drive of the target
computer. The installation application should automatically launch and walk the user
through the installation procedure. If it does not automatically start, browse to the CD and
double-click Setup.exe.
5.2

Starting AMAS

Once installed, the AMAS software will be located in the list of installed programs. To be-
gin a session, simply click the Windows Start button. Select "All Programs" then "Linear
Acoustic" then "AMAS Metadata Analysis System." A job file will be created where all
AMAS messages will be stored during the current AMAS session. The directory where this
text file is stored is user-selectable or it can simply be left at the default.

nals when illuminated green.
At the top left of the AMAS window, verify and adjust the IP Addr field and Port fields to
match the equivalent fields on the hardware (IP Address and Port Number). Once done,
