Drain or Replace the Fuel Filter / Water
Separator
1. Make sure the fuel tank cock
(Figure 14, (1)) is closed.
Figure 14
2. Loosen the drain plug (Figure 14, (3))
at the bottom of the fuel filter / water
separator and drain off any water or
dirt.
3. Turn the filter container (Figure 14, (2))
counterclockwise to remove.
4. Remove the filter element.
5. Lubricate the seal and install a new
filter element into the container.
6. Install filter container and hand-tighten.
7. Open the fuel tank cock
(Figure 14, (1)).
8. After reinstalling the fuel filter and the
fuel filter / water separator, bleed air
from the fuel system. See Bleeding the
Fuel System on page 36.

WARNING
BURN HAZARD!
• Batteries contain sulfuric acid.
NEVER allow battery fluid to
come in contact with clothing,
skin or eyes. Severe burns
could result. ALWAYS wear
safety goggles and protective
clothing when servicing the
battery. If battery fluid contacts
the eyes and / or skin,
immediately flush the affected
area with a large amount of
clean water and obtain prompt
medical treatment.
• Failure to comply could result
in death or serious injury.
CAUTION
NEVER turn off the battery
switch (if equipped) or short the
battery cables during operation.
Damage to the electric system
will result.
