Connecting the Vitoligno 200-S and an oil/gas boiler to a common chimney in accordance with DIN 4759-1

If connecting to a common chimney, a safety device for provision of a
mutual interlock system in accordance with DIN 4759-1 must be instal-
led in consultation with the local flue gas inspector. A door interlock
switch (see page 62) is available as an accessory for this purpose.
When the Vitoligno 200-S is in operation, the burner of the oil/gas boiler
remains off. If the hopper door, ignition door or ash door of the Vitoligno
200-S is opened, the door contact switch likewise interrupts the power
supply to the burner. As soon as the Vitoligno 200-S goes into the
burnout phase, the oil/gas boiler with pressure-jet burner is enabled,
thus allowing operation to continue automatically.

6.7 Hydraulic connection

Safety equipment to EN 12828

EN 12828 requires, amongst others, the following safety equipment to
be installed:
■ Sealed expansion vessel.
■ A safety valve at the highest point of the boiler or on a pipe connected
6
to this point. It must not be possible to shut off the connection line
between the boiler and the safety valve. No pumps, fittings or con-
strictions may be present in this line. The discharge pipe must be
designed in such a way that no pressure increase is possible. Any
expelled heating water must be drained off safely. The outlet point
of the discharge pipe must be arranged in such a way that any water
expelled from the safety valve can be drained off safely and visibly.

Low water indicator

According to EN 12828, a low water indicator can be omitted for boilers
up to 300 kW, as long as heating can be reliably prevented when there
is a water shortage.

Acoustic transmission may arise from the flue gas fan, which can lead
to excessive noise. We therefore recommend the use of a flue silencer
or a flexible chimney connection pipe.
Observe the following when connecting the flue pipe:
■ Install the flue pipe rising to the chimney (with 45º) if possible. Max.
flue length 3000 mm. A flue stretch with a slight inclination (up to
30º) or horizontal orientation may be a max. of 1000 mm long.
■ Provide the flue pipe with thermal insulation of at least 50 mm thick-
ness.
■ Never push the flue pipe too far into the chimney.
■ Ensure the entire flue gas path (including cleaning aperture) is gas-
tight.
■ Never insert the flue pipe into the brickwork of the chimney. Instead,
use a flexible flue adaptor for connection to the chimney. Provide a
cleaning aperture.
If the optional electrical ignition system (see page 62) is ordered as
an accessory, the door interlock switch set will already be included.
■ Thermometer and pressure gauge.
■ A low water indicator is not required, except in attic heating centres,
and in public buildings in Germany (water level limiter, available as
an accessory).
■ An automatic device for heat transfer, which prevents the maximum
permissible operating temperature being exceeded. For this, con-
nect a thermally activated safety valve (available as an accessory)
to the integral heat exchanger.
These boilers are equipped with type-tested control thermostats and
high limit safety cut-outs. Tests have verified that in the event of water
shortage due to a leak in the heating system and simultaneous fuel
burnout in the combustion chamber, the boiler and the flue system do
not reach unacceptably high temperatures.
