Validation: The parameter value must be within the range 2 through 4, inclusive. The transmission
mode must be set before setting the read option. Note that the echo bit will be reset if the trans-
mission mode is not full duplex.
Subfunction 6. Backspace Character. The character specified in the data block will be used as
the backspace character for the edit mode.
