Sense Apps
Windows Phone 8.1 includes "Sense" apps that help you to
better manage your smart phone.
•
Wi-Fi Sense: Lets you connect to high-quality, free Wi-Fi
hotspots, automatically accept terms of use, and provide
required credentials. For more information, refer to "Wi-Fi
Sense" on page 105.

Data Sense: Warns you when you get close to your data
limit and reduces the frequency of non-critical tasks to
save on data. It also compresses website images and text
by up to 60%. For more information, refer to "Data Sense"
on page 86.

Battery Saver: Keeps track of which apps use the most
battery and enables auto-manage mode to add 20%
battery life. For more information, see "Battery Saver" on
page 82 and see "Battery Saver" on page 120.

Storage Sense: Offers an easy-to-read breakdown of how
phone storage is being used. Easily transfer items between
phone hard drive and SD card, including apps. For more
information, refer to "Storage Sense" on page 121.
Entering Text
This section describes how to select the desired text input
method when entering characters into your phone.
This section also describes the predictive text entry system
that reduces the amount of key strokes associated with
entering text.
Note: Your phone comes equipped with an orientation
detector that can tell if the phone is being held in a
portrait (upright) or landscape (sideways) orientation.
The landscape orientation makes entering text easier. If
the phone is sideways or upright, an onscreen, QWERTY
keyboard displays.
Word Flow
Word Flow is available on your phone to make your typing
easier. Word Flow suggests words and corrects misspellings,
which can be turned off if you would rather not use it.
