CONFIGURATION UTILITY
Authentication Type
IEEE 802.11b supports two types of authentication:
Open System and Shared Key.
Open System
The default selection is set to "Open System" as the authentication
algorithm used by D-Link Air product. If the Access Point is using
"Open System" authentication, then the wireless adapter will need
to be set to the same authentication type.
Shared Key
Shared Key authentication is available only when WEP (Wired
Equivalent Privacy) encryption is enabled on the D-Link Air prod-
ucts. Shared Key authentication supports authentication of hosts
as either a member of a group with a shared secret key or a mem-
ber of those who do not have a shared secret key. IEEE 802.11b
Shared Key authentication requires the use of WEP privacy mech-
anism to share the key without transmitting the secret key in the
open.
Apply Change
This button becomes active only when one of the fields has been
modified. Press the button to apply any changes made in the
Encryption settings.
