CONFIGURATION UTILITY
The Access Point or wireless adapter will accept only encrypted
frames that it can decrypt correctly. This will only happen if the
receiver has the "WEP Key" used by the transmitter.
The panel allows the entry of four keys for encryption. Each key
must consist of hex digits, which means that only digits 0-9 and let-
ters A-F are valid entries. The Configuration Utility will not apply
keys that are not entered correctly.
Wep Key to Use
None - The default setting for the D-Link Air product. Set encryption
to "None" when encryption is not necessary.
Key 1 - Key 4
These four fields are used to manually enter the encryption keys.
This will be necessary when using encryption or matching keys with
a different vendor's product.
Mode
There are two options for the "Mode" settings: Mandatory and
Optional. The default setting for the D-Link Air product is set to
"Mandatory."
Mandatory
WEP Encryption is required to establish connection with other sta-
tions within the wireless network. The "Mandatory" mode is compli-
ant with IEEE 802.11b standard.
Optional
"Optional" mode allows the D-Link Air product to communicate with
other stations within the wireless network regardless if WEP encryp-
tion is enabled or disabled in the other stations.
