NOTE:
an alarm will sound from the reader if the
patron is underage, the identification presented has
expired, or incomplete data was captured from the
identification card.
The reader will also display a corresponding
message on the reader screen, in order to continue
and read other bar codes, you must press the soft
key under 'ok' on the reader display. (Figure 4)

Cleaning your Bar Code Reader

The CR3500 bar code reader, BH5 Handle and Age Verification Stand can be cleaned
using Clorox Disinfecting Wipes or Isopropyl Alcohol. Do not immerse in water or
liquids.
The CR3500 bar code reader can be removed from
the reader stand and used as a handheld bar code
reader. To read a bar code:
Hold the reader approx. 4" from the bar code

Press the trigger (see Figure 2)

The reader will beep and vibrate once to indicate a
'good read' occured.
Pressing the trigger on the handle, while the reader
is in the stand, will turn the motion detection feature
of the reader on for 30 minutes. To read a bar code:
1.
Hold the bar code approx. 4" from the reader
(see Figure 3)
2.
The reader will detect and read the bar code
The reader will beep and vibrate once to indicate a
'good read' occured.

Hard to read or damaged bar codes or magnetic stripes
If you encounter a bar code or magnetic stripe that can not be
read, enter the required data on the Manual Entry Log provided.

To use the magnetic stripe reader, the CR3500 bar
code reader must be placed in the base, and the
green LED light on. (see Figure 5)
• Green = magnetic stripe reader connected
• Red = magnetic stripe reader not connected
To read a magnetic stripe:
1.
Swipe the card with the magnetic stripe down
and facing you (see Figure 6)
2.
Data captured from the magnetic stripe can be
viewed on the CR3500 bar code reader screen

The data is then stored in the bar code reader's
memory
Due to the difficult nature of reading a passport's
MRZ (machine readable zone), passport reading is
only recommended with the passport stand. (see
Figure 7)
If you do not have a passport stand, data should
be captured manually using the Manual Entry Log
provided.
