    Section 1 1.1 Manual Overview This manual provides detailed instructions for installing and operating the PESA Cougar Video Switcher. This manual is divided into seven sections as shown. Sections 3 and 4 contain operational and functional descriptions of the Cougar Video Routing Switcher and the associated 32X32 Video Matrix Card.

    Cougar Video Installation Section 2 2.3 Unpacking The Cougar Video Matrix Switcher is comprised of a frame, backplane, a 32X32 Video Matrix Card, up to four 16X16 Crosspoint Cards, up to two System Controller Cards, and up to two PS70V Power Supplies. Prior to discarding packing material compare the parts received against the pack- ing list.

This circuit acts as a switch to trigger an optional external alarm in the event of a failure in the power supply or of the external 110VAC (220VAC for the international version) source.

    Cougar Video Functional Section 4 4.1 Introduction General The 32X32 Video Matrix Card working in conjunction with the 16X16 Cros- spoint Cards provides wide bandwidth performance for conventional NTSC/PAL analog video signals. The 32X32 Video Matrix Card can ac- commodate video signal amplitude levels up to 2V peak-to-peak. All the 32X32 Video Matrix Card's inputs are terminated into 75 ohms.

The external sync can be color black or composite sync. U78 and U83 decode the composite signal to an even/odd field signal which is used by the mi- croprocessor.

    Cougar Video Functional Section 4 4.2 32X32 Video Matrix Card Continued: Output The output circuits on the 32X32 Video Matrix Card are responsible for driving the output lines. The output circuits are comprised of an opera- tional amplifier, a transistor, and their associated components. The opera- tional amplifier is responsible for conditioning the output video signal and driving the video output line through precision 75 ohm resistors.

    Cougar Video Functional Section 4 4.3 16X16 Crosspoint Card Continued: Input The input circuits on the 16X16 Crosspoint Card are responsible for buff- ering the inputs to the crosspoint card from the 32X32 Video Matrix Card.     Cougar Video Maintenance Section 5 5.1 Introduction This section will cover the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the Cougar Video Routing Switcher. NOTICE THIS EQUIPMENT CONTAINS STATIC SENSITIVE DEVICES. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A GROUNDED WRIST STRAP AND MAT BE USED WHILE MAKING REPAIRS OR ADJUSTMENTS.

    Cougar Video Maintenance Section 5 5.8 PS70V Power Supply Replacement of the two power supply fuses is accomplished by discon- necting power to the unit, removing the power supply and disassembling the fuse holder on the rear of the supply. The replacement value of the power supply fuses is 1.5 Amp (5x20mm) for a line voltage of 115VAC and 0.8 Amp for a line voltage of 220VAC.

Grasp the both the left and right front cover slide locks and push or pull them towards the center of the equipment item's front.
