    Carefully take the screen out of its box and place it face down on a flat surface. Use the 4 thumb screws to secure the screen slider in place. Make sure the tactile HumanWare logo on the screen slider is facing towards the top of the screen (1).
  • Page 10 IMPORTANT: Use caution while handling the screen to avoid scratching it. 3. Tilt the screen forward and carefully insert the screen slider into the Base (1). Use the Torx key to tighten the 2 screws into the Base (2). Then, apply the masking membrane over the 2 screws (3).
  • Page 11 4. Connect the DC cable into the DC port (1). Then, insert the DVI cable into the DVI port and tighten the 2 included screws (2). Use the cable clip to attach the cables behind the screen (3). IMPORTANT: The DVI cable only goes in one way. If it does not slide in properly, flip it over.
  • Page 12 6. Connect the Power Supply to the Power Cable. Then, connect the cable to the Power Connector and plug it to an outlet. 7. Place the Tablet on the Docking Station, screen side up and top edge facing towards the back. Push the two latches inward to connect.

    8. Press the Power button to power on the Base. Prodigi will take about 30 seconds to initialize. HumanWare’s logo will appear on the screen, followed by Prodigi’s startup screen. The Interactive Wizard will then be launched automatically. Follow it carefully to learn how to use your Prodigi and personalize it to your vision needs.

    NAVIGATING ON YOUR PRODIGI You can navigate on your Prodigi by performing 3 simple touch gestures on the Base’s touchpad and on the Tablet’s touchscreen. Here’s a short description of these gestures. Press your finger down shortly at any location. SWIPE Think of it as turning a book page.

    CONTINUOUS READING Prodigi’s Continuous Reading feature scrolls text according to your preferences. Text can be presented in 3 different ways (Reading Modes): it can be transformed into a single line in the Line mode (default), a column in the Column mode, or you can read text without losing its configuration in the Page mode.

     After capturing a document that contains text, you can use the same features as on the Base to read documents (Spot Reading and Continuous Reading). CHAPTER 6 – USING THE MENU Prodigi has 4 main applications – Magnifier, Gallery, Settings, and Wizard.

    Notes: If a document contains text, the first word of the text will be shown to identify it in the Gallery. The word ‘EMPTY’ will appear if the Gallery contains no documents. The Gallery should contain no more than 100 documents. Once you pass this number, you will be prompted to delete some documents from the Gallery before saving new ones.
  • Page 27 Color contrast is useful if you want to view documents, objects, and photographs in their original color. Positive contrast shows text and images in 2 colors according to the color scheme of your choice, the default combination being Black on White. This is a practical way to view text in the best color combination for your vision.

    CHAPTER 9 – ACTIVATING SPEECH To prevent eye fatigue, you can have Prodigi read text aloud to you.  Activate speech first in the Quick Settings. Press and hold the Back button, and select Speech: ON. Press Back to return to your document. Note: You can also toggle between Speech ON and OFF by doing a Double Tap gesture (tapping twice rapidly with 1 finger).

     To stop reading, press Back. Note: Prodigi contains 2 different voices that can be used to read aloud text documents. To select a different voice, press and hold the Back button to access the Quick Settings, swipe down to select Voice, and tap to toggle between the 2 reading voices.

     Hold the Tablet so that the screen side is facing you and the recharge port is aiming downwards. Make sure the tactile HumanWare logo on the recharge cable is facing you (1). Carefully connect the cable to the recharge port and plug it to an outlet.
  • Page 35 IMPORTANT: The battery becomes warm during recharging. Do not recharge the battery near a heat source. Replacing the battery: Contact HumanWare or your authorized distributor to obtain a replacement battery.  Power off the Tablet by pressing and holding the Power button for 1 second, and unplug it from the outlet.
