TYPICAL
WARNING
Do not start engine until all pas-
sengers are properly seated.

Starting

WARNING
Engine exhaust fumes contain car-
bon monoxide (CO) which can accu-
mulate in and around the boat (un-
der Bimini top, in cockpit, etc.). CO
can be harmful or fatal if inhaled.
Assure there is adequate ventilation
whenever running engine.
WARNING
Always activate bilge blower 5
minutes minimum before starting
the engine to allow the bilge blow-
er to ventilate the bilge.
WARNING
Do not touch electrical parts or jet
pump area when engine is run-
ning.
WARNING
Bilge blower must be turned off
during sport boat operation.
Attach the safety lanyard to your PFD
and snap the cap to the DESS post be-
fore starting the engine.

NOTE: If you hear some beeper sig-
nals other than 2 short beeps, it indi-
cates a particular condition that must
be corrected. Refer to chart in the
TROUBLESHOOTING section for the
meaning of the coded signal.
Grip steering wheel with your right hand
and place both feet on the floorboard.
Turn off bilge blower.
Start engine. Check tachometer to
monitor engine.
WARNING
Before starting, the operator and
passengers should always be
properly seated.
CAUTION: To avoid starter motor
overheating, the cranking period
should not exceed 5-10 seconds and
a rest period of 30 seconds should
be observed between cranking cy-
cles to let the starter cool down and
its mechanism disengage.
Leaving the Shore
With throttle lever at idle, move shifter
to the desired direction.
Slowly accelerate to reach deeper wa-
ter. Do not apply full throttle until the
engine is warm.
WARNING
In shallow water, shells, sand,
pebbles or other objects could be
drawn up by the jet pump and
thrown rearward.
Rough Water or Poor
Visibility Operation
Avoid operation in these conditions. If
you must do so, proceed with caution
and prudence using minimum speed.
Turn on navigation lights if necessary.
