Online Field Total Restrictions
To ensure the accuracy of the field total in the accumulator,
remember the following restrictions:
Use only one program to process a record.
• When backspacing to a previous record from a partially
entered, updated, or verified record, select the program
used for the previous record only after the backspace
to the previous record is complete.
Before deleting a record, be sure the program used to
create the record is selected.
• A read out/reset field must be preceded by at least one
programmed manual field and must not be followed
within the same record by a field totals field relating
to that accumulator.
Do not backspace to a record and select a program with
a read out/reset field if the accumulator that pertains
to that read out/reset has a value other than zero. The
accumulator will have a value other than zero if any
record was written on the disk with a field totals
program for that accumulator and data was entered in
that field in enter mode or changed in update or verify
mode.
• After updating a record, deleting a record, or correcting
a record in the verify mode, all succeeding read out/re-
set fields that were affected by the operation must be
executed. To execute this field total operation, record
advance to the record that contains the read out/reset
field, select the correct program buffer, and field ad-
vance over the read out/reset field.
In update mode or when E-R (alternate record advance
option in enter mode) is selected, a read out/reset field
is not executed if R EC ADV is pressed before the
cursor enters that field. Therefore, advance the cursor
through all read out/reset fields before pressing
REC ADV.
• When field totals are being used in a data set, do not
use communications, second disk (except if loading
programs), or printer functions (except print record)
at any time during online field totals operations.
