Nonswitched Common Carrier, Voice Grade
A nonswitched, point-to-point or multipoint network con-
sists of dedicated, private, or leased communication lines.
Nonswitched point-to-point networks connect the 3741
Model 2 or 4 with remote terminals or processing units.
Nonswitched multipoint networks connect the 3741
Model 2 or 4 with a processing unit. On a nonswitched
network, the terminals are physically connected: that is,
the cjrcuits making up the communication lines are
continuously established for predetermined time periods
during which data may be transmitted over the lines.
Since the terminals are continuously connected, no dialing
is required.
