Unplug the power cable of the processor's fan-
sink from the motherboard. Note where the
cable plugs in because you will need to re-attach
it later.
Press down on the fan-sink's retention clip to
release it (A) then unhook the clip from the
other side of the ZIF socket (B).
Release the lever (C) from the side of the ZIF
socket and raise it to the upright position, at
right-angles to the motherboard.
There may be a little stiffness at the beginning
and end of the lever's movement; be careful not
to use excessive force.
Lift the processor (with fan-sink) clear of the
system unit and place it on an anti-static surface.
Hold the processor by its edges and avoid
touching any of the metal pins.
Separate the fan-sink from the processor by
twisting the fan-sink from side to side to loosen
the grip of the thermal bonding compound,
then slide the fan-sink off to one side of the
processor.
