You computer is installed with two multi-function brackets. The brackets are used to secure the front fan
assembly, flex adapters, and full-length PCI Express cards. The bracket installed in the upper position of
the chassis also can be used to secure the power supply assembly.
To remove and reinstall either of the multi-function brackets, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 111.
3. If necessary, remove the direct cooling air baffle for easier operation. See "Removing and reinstalling
the direct cooling air baffle" on page 128.
4. Locate the multi-function bracket you want to remove. See "Locating components" on page 30.
5. If you are replacing the multi-function bracket installed in the upper position of the chassis, remove the
power supply assembly. See "Replacing the power supply assembly" on page 143.
6. Remove the front fan assembly in the bracket you want to remove. See "Replacing the front fan
assemblies" on page 141.
7. Lay the computer on its side for easier access to the bracket.
8. Hold the handle
