Disconnect the USB cable from the machine and the computer, then connect

If you cannot resolve the problem, follow the procedure below to reinstall

ScanGear.
1. Click Cancel.
2. Click Start Over on the Installation Failure screen.
3. Click Exit on the "CanoScan XXX" screen (where "XXX" is the model name), then remove the Setup CD-
ROM.
4. Disconnect the USB cable from the machine and the computer.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Make sure that you have no application running.
7. Insert the Setup CD-ROM again, then install ScanGear.
In other cases:
Reinstall ScanGear.
If ScanGear was not installed correctly, uninstall the CanoScan XXX Scanner Driver (where "XXX" is the
model name), restart your computer, and then reinstall ScanGear. To uninstall the CanoScan XXX
Scanner Driver, start the uninstaller from Control Panel.
When reinstalling ScanGear, install it from the Setup CD-ROM or MP Drivers from the web page.

• If the installer was forced to be terminated due to a Windows error, the system may be in an unstable
condition and you may not be able to install ScanGear. Restart your computer before reinstalling.
