other operating systems or a third-party software package to provide dial-up facilities
on your PC, refer to the instructions accompanying that system.
When creating your new connection to the 7100 MAP, enter the following information
if you are required to set connection preferences:

Data bits: 8
-
Parity: N (None)
-
Stop bits: 1
To create a dial-up network connection
1. Connect the modem port on your PC to the telephone line jack.
2. Either
-
double-click the My Computer icon, click Network and Dial-Up Connec-
tions, and then double-click the Make New Connection icon. You see the
Make New Connection Wizard.
OR
-
click Start, click Accessories, click Communications, click Network and
Dial-Up Connections, and then click Make New Connection. You see the
Make New Connection Wizard.
3. Click Next.
4. Ensure that the Dial-up to private network radio button is selected, and click
Next.
5. Enter the telephone number of the 7100 MAP in the Phone number field. If you
wish to enter the area code separately, select the Use dialing rules check box,
and enter the Country/Region code information, and click Next.
6. To make the connection available to all users on your PC, select the For all
users radio button; otherwise, select Only for myself, and click Next.
7. Enter a name for the connection in the field highlighted in the Completing the
Network Connection Wizard form. Select the option to add a shortcut to the
connection to your desktop, if desired, and click Finish.
8. From the Network and Dial-up Connections window, right-click the new
connection, and select Properties.
9. Select the Security tab.

In Security Options, select Typical.

Under the Validate my identity as follows heading, select Require a se-
cure password from the drop-down menu.

Ensure that no other options are selected.
10.Select the Networking tab.

Under Type of dial-up server I am calling, select PPP: Windows
95/98/NT4/2000, Internet.
