Changing a wheel

Vehicles with aluminum hub caps:
To remove: take socket ; and lug wrench
X
= from the vehicle tool kit (
Position socket ; on hub cap :.
X
Attach lug wrench = to socket ; and
X
loosen hub cap : counter-clockwise.
Remove hub cap :.

To install: before installing, check hub
X
cap : and the wheel area for soiling and
clean if necessary.
Put hub cap : in position and turn until it
X
is in the right position.
Position socket ; on hub cap :.
X
Attach lug wrench = to socket ; and
X
tighten hub cap :.
The tightening torque must be 18 lb-ft
(25 Nm).

Note that the hub cap should be
tightened to the specified torque of 18 lb-ft
(25 Nm). Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you have the hub cap installed at a
qualified specialist workshop.
Using lug wrench =, loosen the bolts on
X
the wheel you wish to change by about one
full turn. Do not unscrew the bolts
completely.

The jacking points are located just behind the
front wheel housings and just in front of the
rear wheel housings (arrows).
Take the ratchet wrench out of the vehicle
X
tool kit and place it on the hexagon nut of
the jack so that the letters AUF are visible.
AMG vehicles and vehicles with AMG
equipment: to protect the vehicle body, the
vehicle has covers next to the jacking points
on the outer sills.
AMG vehicles and vehicles with AMG
X
equipment: fold cover ? upwards.
