Connection

Connecting an amplifier or system component

■ To enjoy multi-channel surround sound on
DVD-Video
Connect an amplifier with Dolby Digital, DTS and MPEG decoders
using an optical digital audio cable and change the settings in
"Digital Audio Output" (➔ page 35).
Digital output is not digital with DVD-Audio (figure 1), however you
can enjoy it in analogue (figure 2).
(For digital playback, set "DVD-Audio Video mode Playback"
(➔ page 35) to "On" when the DVD-Audio contains DVD-Video.)
You cannot use DTS Digital Surround decoders not suited to DVD.
Optical digital audio cable
Do not bend this cable sharply.
Insert fully, with this side facing up.
