Installing and Removing the Battery

Load a fully charged Battery Pack LP-E4N/LP-E4 into the camera. The
camera's viewfinder becomes bright when a battery is installed,
and darkens when the battery is removed.

Only the Battery Pack LP-E4N/LP-E4 can be used.
If the battery's rubber lining (to repel water) is dirty, use a
moist cotton swab to wipe it clean.

Remove the battery compartment
cap.

Insert the battery.
Insert the battery firmly all the way,
and turn the release handle as shown
by the arrow.
Turn the battery release handle
and take out the battery.
Check if the power switch is set to
<2> (p.38).
Flip out the battery release handle,
turn it as shown by the arrow, and pull.
To prevent short circuiting of the
battery contacts, be sure to attach the
protective cover (provided, p.27) to
the battery.
When not using the camera, attach
the battery compartment cap (p.20).
