  • Page 36: Sonar Room Requirements

Simrad SD570 / Base version Figure 1 - Location of the Hull Unit Sonar room requirements The sonar room should be dimensioned to house the Hull Unit and the Transceiver Unit. This because the length of the flexi- hose protected cabling from the Hull Unit to the Transceiver Unit is limited to approximately 3.5 meters.
  • Page 37 Introduction Ventilation The sonar room should preferably be connected to the ship’s ventilation system. If this is not possible, two 3- inch vent pipes must be laid from the sonar room to free air on deck. The air inlet should be close to the floor, while the outlet should be placed as high as possible.

Introduction 3 INSTALLATION OF THE HULL UNIT Unpacking the Hull Unit In order to prevent damage of the transducer and the transducer cables while handling the Hull Unit, these parts are especially protected. This means that both the transducer protection and the cable protection should still be mounted to the Hull Unit when it is being lowered down into the sonar room (see figure 6).
