DO
keep your lank knife valve closed. permitting the tank to
get as full as convenient before emptying.
DO
keep both the tank "nife valve(s) and the drain cap
tightly In place when traveling to permit use of the
system when on Ihe road.
DO
use any soft (single·ply) toilet tissue.
DON'T
put facial tissues. paper, permanent (automotive) anti·
freeze. sanitary napkins. or household tOilet cleaners in
your holding tank.
DON'T
put anything solid ,n your holding tank which could
scratch or cause damage the plastic.
WINTERIZING THE WATER SYSTEM
If the motor home is to be stored in temperatures below freezing.
the fresh water and waste systems should both be winterized as
follows:
1. Drain fresh water tank by opening water tank drain.
2. Open the drain valves on HOT and COLD water pipes.
(These valves are located under interior cabinets at floor
level and drain through the floor.) After all water has been
drained from the water pipes. close faucets.
3. Turn pump ON. Open a cold water faucet. When flow of
water has stopped, turn pump OFF.
4. Drain water heater by opening drain plug at bottom of

heater and open safety valve. Also. open the hot water
.c:,
faucets.
5. Drain waste water system by following normal procedure. for
emptying holding tank (refer to paragraph on Waste Wafer
Draining.)
Have automotive coolant system tested to ensure that vehicle is
well protected to any anticipated freezing level. as recommended
in Chassis Operators Manual.
The above is a basic procedure designed to be perlormed by thE
motor home owner. In areas of extreme cold extra protection car
be obtained by scheduling a motor home dealer to perlorm this
winterization for you. He has specialized equipment that will
"'enable him to blow the water drain lines clear.
WINTER STORAGE CHECKLIST
Fresh Water System
PLUMBING LINES - Drain and protect by filling with approved
RV antifreeze.
WATER HEATER - Drain.
SHOWER HOSE - Dr,!,;n and fill with antifreeze.
TOILET - Drain, and depress pedal until antifreeze appears in
bowl.
Body and Tires
BODY - Clean and wax. 'Oil locks and hinges. Recaulk roof'
seams as needed Remove snow accumulation with a push-
broom. Avoid standing on root.
TIRES - Block up the RV wllh wooden blocks or manufactured
Jackstands on a hard. level surlace Partially deflale tires Cover
to protect from sunlight
