General
Do not allow this radio to be exposed to water,
steam, or sand.
Do not leave the radio where excessive heat could
cause damage such as in a parked car where the
heat from the sun can build up even though the
outside temperature may not seem too high.
Batteries
The R862 will operate from two IEC LR6 (AA)size
batteries. The use of Alkaline batteries is recom-
mended. To fit the batteries open the battery com-
partment (5) by sliding the cover in the direction of
the arrow. Insert the batteries with polarity as
shown on the rear of the radio. Refit the cover.
The need to replace the batteries will be indicated
by reduced power and distortion. If the batteries
are left in the radio for long periods they could leak
and cause corrosion damage. Therefore if the
R862 is only to be used via an external power
supply the batteries should be removed.
