NOTE: The engine can be started by using the ignition key or the start/stop button located on the remote control
handle.
6. For initial start of a new engine or for an engine that ran out of fuel, or was drained of fuel, the fuel system
should be filled as follows:
a. Squeeze the fuel line primer bulb until it feels firm.
b. Turn the ignition key switch to the "ON" position for three seconds. This operates the electric fuel pump.
c. Turn the ignition key switch back to the "OFF" position, and squeeze the primer bulb again until it feels
firm. Turn the ignition key switch to the "ON" position again for three seconds. Continue this procedure
until the fuel line primer bulb stays firm.
7. Ignition key starting ‑ Turn the ignition key to "START" position and release the key. The electronic starting
system will automatically crank the engine for starting. If engine fails to start, engine will stop cranking. Turn
the key to "START" position again until engine starts.
8. Start/stop button ‑ Turn the ignition key to "ON" position and press start/stop button and release. The
electronic starting system will automatically crank the engine for starting. If the engine fails to start, the
engine will stop cranking. Press start/stop button and release again until engine starts.
9. Check for a steady stream of water flowing out of the water pump indicator hole.
IMPORTANT: If no water is coming out of the water pump indicator hole, stop engine and check cooling water
intake holes for obstruction. No obstruction may indicate a water pump failure or blockage in the cooling system.
This condition will cause the engine to overheat. Have the outboard checked by your dealer. Operating the engine
while overheated will cause engine damage.
Warming Up Engine
Throttle Only Button ‑ This feature allows the boat operator to increase engine RPM for warm‑up, without shifting
the engine into gear.
