4.15 Display Mask

Removing the Display Mask
To remove the display mask, follow the steps below and refer to Figures 4-43 and 4-44.
1. Turn off the power to the computer, then disconnect the AC adapter and all external
cables connected to the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack, optional memory module, and optional PC card as
described in Sections 4.2 through 4.4.
3. Carefully remove two mask seals at the hinges, pulling them up, to expose two
M2.5x6 screws securing the display mask.
4. Remove the two M2.5x6 screws that were covered by the Mask seals.
5. Carefully insert your fingers between the mask and the LCD panel and pry open the
latches. Start with five latches across the top of the display mask.
6. Continue releasing the mask along the sides (four latches on each side), then at the
bottom (four latches).
