4.13 System Board

Removing the System Board
To remove the system board, follow the steps below and refer to Figures 4-37 to 4-41.
1.
Turn off the power to the computer, then disconnect the AC adapter and all external
cables connected to the computer.
2.
Remove the battery pack, optional memory module, optional PC card, FDD or CD-
ROM drive, HDD, upper cover and keyboard, DAA module, display assembly and
jack board, modem board, IPS board, and power supply board as described in
Sections 4.2 through 4.12.
3.
Remove three M2.5x4 flat-head screws and one M2.5x8 screw securing the
metal cover.
4.
Lift out the metal cover.
5.
Use tweezers to disconnect the selectable bay connector cables from PJ601 and
PJ604 on the system board, or lift the pressure connectors to quickly remove them,
and then remove the selectable bay connector.
6.
Lift out the plastic brace for the HDD connector.
7.
Lift the pressure connectors and disconnect the flexible cable from PJ602 on the
system board.
