General

FLOWMAX Coffee and Tea Brewers are designed for maximum
durability and performance with minimum maintenance.
WARNING
ELECTRIC ShOCK hAzARD:
• Turn power switch OFF, unplug power cord, and allow
unit to cool before performing any maintenance or
cleaning.
• DO NOT submerge or saturate with water. Unit is not
waterproof. Do not operate if unit has been submerged
or saturated with water.
• Do not steam clean or use excessive water on unit.
• This unit is not "jet-proof" construction. Do not use jet-
clean spray to clean this unit.
• Use only Genuine hatco Replacement Parts when
service is required. Failure to use Genuine hatco
Replacement Parts will void all warranties and may
subject operators of the equipment to hazardous
electrical voltage, resulting in electrical shock or burn.
Genuine hatco Replacement Parts are specified to
operate safely in the environments in which they are
used. Some aftermarket or generic replacement parts
do not have the characteristics that will allow them to
operate safely in hatco equipment.
This unit has no "user-serviceable" parts. If service is
required on this unit, contact an Authorized hatco Service
Agent or contact the hatco Service Department at

Daily Cleaning

To preserve the bright finish of the unit and maintain
performance, it is recommended that the exterior and interior
surfaces be cleaned daily.
NOTE: Before using the unit for the first time, the tank should
be filled with cold water only (no coffee or tea) and run
through a brewing cycle. This will remove any dust that
may have settled inside the unit.
CAUTION
BURN hAzARD:
• hot water in unit may cause scalding injury. Allow unit
to cool before draining or cleaning.
• Do not move or relocate unit when it contains hot
liquids. Turn off unit and allow to cool completely
before moving or cleaning.
1. Turn off the unit, unplug the power cord, and allow the unit
to cool.
2. Drain any remaining liquid from the tank.
3. Remove the cover, coffee/tea basket, spreader cover, and
pumping tube assembly for proper cleaning in a
dishwasher or wash sink.
NOTE: When the pumping tube assembly is being washed,
make sure the washer on the bottom remains loose. If
coffee grounds are caught in the pumping tube, remove
by holding the tube under running water or using a
wooden pick.

Use non-abrasive cleaners only. Abrasive cleaners could
scratch finish of unit, marring its appearance and making
it susceptible to soil accumulation.
4. Wipe down all exterior surfaces using a soft, damp cloth.
Stubborn stains may be removed with a good non-abrasive
cleaner.
5. Wash the tank using water and a mild detergent. Rinse
thoroughly and dry.

Removing Lime and Mineral Deposits

use the following procedure for periodic cleaning and de-liming
of the stainless steel tank.
NOTE: The lime and mineral content of the water used for
brewing will determine how often the deliming
procedure must be performed.
NOTE: Perform this procedure when the unit will not be used
for a period of time, such as the end of the day.
1. Perform steps 1–3 of the "Daily Cleaning" procedure in this
section.
2. Fill the tank with a mixture of 75% water and 25% white
vinegar. Do not use flavored vinegar.
3. Plug in the unit and press the POWER button to turn on
the unit.
4. Press the BOIL button to select water heating mode.
5. Press the uP button to set the desired temperature to 95°C
(203°F).
6. Allow the unit to complete the entire heating cycle (25–30
minutes). The READy indicator will turn on when the cycle
is complete.
7. Press the POWER button to turn off the unit. unplug the
power cord and allow the unit to cool.
8. Drain the water/vinegar solution from the tank.
9. Fill the tank with clean water and perform steps 3–8 of this
procedure. Repeat this step twice.
10. Wash the tank using water and a mild detergent. Rinse
thoroughly and dry.
NOTE: Heavy scale buildup may require additional treatments.
