Troubleshooting

Symptoms
No power is applied to the Player.
Remote control does not function.
Disc tray does not come out when OPEN/
CLOSE button is pressed.
Sound is distorted or noise is generated.
Image is garbled.
Sound is intermittent.
Image is garbled.
No image is displayed on the monitor.
Noise appears during visual search.
Noise appears during normal or slow-motion
playback.
No sound from the microphone is heard.
Recording does not function.
Tape-to-tape editing or camera recording is not
possible.
Whistling or howling is heard from TV during
camera recording.
The Player does not function properly.

Check point
Is the power cord disconnected?
– Connect it.
Are the batteries discharged?
– Replace with new ones.
Is the power cord disconnected?
– Connect it.
Is the disc dirty?
– Wipe off the disc surface with a soft cloth.
Is the correctly connected?

Is the disc scratched?
Is the disc warped?
– Replace the disc with a new one.
Is the monitor set to the AV mode?
– Set it to the AV mode.
This is normal.
Is the automatic tracking mode engaged?
– Try manual tracking. (
Is the microphone volume adjusted at the lowest level? (
Is a cassette loaded?
Is the safety tab on the cassette removed?
– Reseal the slot with adhesive tape.
Is the camcorder or another video recorder correctly connected?
Are all necessary power switch turned ON?
Move camcorder or camera's microphone away from TV or reduce
TV sound volume.
Microcomputer malfunction. Disconnect the power plug from the
AC outlet and then re-insert it.
The microcomputer will be reset to its initial mode.
