Engine

Read the engine operation and maintenance manuals before starting or doing any maintenance on the engine.

Bilge Blower System

• Use of the bilge blower system is NOT A GUARANTEE that explosive fumes have
been removed.
• BEFORE starting the engine ALWAYS use the 'sniff test' to check the engine and bilge areas
for fuel vapors.
• If you smell fuel, DO NOT start the engine and DO NOT turn On any electrical devices.
• If you smell fuel and the engine is already running, shut Off the engine and turn Off all elec-
trical devices. Investigate immediately.
• DO NOT obstruct or modify the bilge blower system.
The bilge blower removes explosive fumes
from the engine and bilge areas. Fresh air is
drawn into the engine and bilge areas
through the vents.
To make sure the engine and bilge areas are
properly ventilated:
• Use the 'sniff test' to check the engine and
bilge areas for fuel vapors before starting
the engine.
• Always run the bilge blower for at least
four minutes before starting the engine.
• Continue to run the blower until your boat
has reached cruising speed.
• Always run the blower when running the
boat below cruising speed.
